As our population continues to age, it is expected that these numbers will increase to 152,157 by the year 2050 (HSE, 2020; Department of Health, (DoH) 2014, 2017; Central Statistics Office, (CSO) 2017. Across Ireland, there are many services and initiatives for people living with dementia (outlined below) however, these mainly focus on those who are at the middle or later stage of their journey; leaving the newly diagnosed and their care partner with limited support services at this difficult time. Whilst there are many existing services available, it was important to provide a service that supported people and their families from initial diagnosis and throughout their journey, all in one place.enAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/DEMENTIACARERSPEER SUPPORTOLDER PEOPLEFéileacán Bán (White Butterfly): The story behind the service which supports the older adult living with dementia and their familyReport
