The aim of the review is to promote continuous improvement in the area of hygiene services within healthcare settings. This review is one important part of the ongoing process of reducing Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and focuses on both the service delivery elements of hygiene, as well as on corporate management. It provides a general assessment of performance against standards in a range of areas at a point in time. The assessment will provide an independent measure of how hospitals are performing against the National Hygiene Standards and assist individual hospitals to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement.en
