This report outlines the state of the programme at the end of the second year of implementation with particular reference to management of ST elevation acute myocardial infarction (STEMI). The very significant change in the number of STEMIs getting PPCI (angioplasty) is a tribute to the cooperation between the dedicated hospital teams and the ambulance service. Furthermore it should be noted that the volume of work in PPCI centres is greater than outlined when false positives and inappropriate referrals not outlined here are considered. The report also outlines issues that have arisen both in terms of delivery of the protocol and data collection that will need to be addressed as the programme goes forward.en
