dc.descriptionDefinition of AIDS and reporting of cases In July 1984 arrangements were made for the reporting and surveillance of cases of AIDS. The criteria for defining AIDS are set out in the Department's memorandum, "Criteria fordefining and diagnosing a case of AIDS and for the epidemiological surveillance of AIDS". The memorandum is available from the local Director of Community Care/Medical Officer of Health. Doctors who have patients with AIDS under their care are invited to assist in the mai ntenance of a complete register of cases by reporting them in strict confidence.en_GB
