dc.descriptionThe Irish Association for Palliative Care was established in 1993 to promote the development of palliative care throughout the island of Ireland. It is a multi-professional organisation whose membership is open to clinical staff (doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists etc.) managerial staff and volunteers who work or have a professional interest in palliative care throughout the island of Ireland. The aim of the Irish Association ror Palliative Care is to promote palliative care in Ireland and to act as a focus for all those who work or have an interest in the field of palliative care. The objective of the organisation is to promote education and research in palliative care. There is a number of fora and special interest groups (day care, social workers, and ethics) which focus on developing palliative care in particular areas.en_GB
