dc.description | The National Council on Ageing and Older People (NCAOP) was established in March 1997. It is a statutory body representing the needs of older people. One of its main functions is to promote the health, welfare and autonomy of older people. The Healthy Ageing Programme was launched in 1998 with the publication of Adding Years to Life and Life to Years: A Health Promotion Strategy for Older People in conjunction with the Health Promotion Unrt of the Department of Health and Children. The goal of the Healthy Ageing Programme is to act as a resource that enables health promotion for older people to reach its fullest potential. This primarily involves enabling older people's groups, health and social service providers and individuals to realise and to act upon their health promoting capacity in four setlings: " home " community • health services • nursing home and other long stay facilities. | en |
