A feature of the national social and cultural consciousness is the growing awareness of the importance of equality of opportunity for all citizens of the State and a growing intolerance of unequal treatment on whatever basis. In some dimensions this drive for quality is powerfully supported and promoted with legislation and government action programmes which are helping to create a better informed and more wholesome social conscience and a more just society. This trend is greatly to be welcomed and it is the Board's aim to harness it where possible to assist in achieving the Board's primary goal to promote equality of opportunity and full participation in society for people with disabilities. It is of the highest importance to see that no opportunity is missed to ensure that citizens with disabilities are aided by the equality movement in their quest for social and economic integration.en_GB
