This report serves to outline the clinical activity of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at University College Hospital Galway for the year 2002. Regular audit of clinical activity, including annual assessment of the overall statistics, has been in place for many years. However, this is the first time that a report of this nature has been compiled outlining all of the details to this extent I consider it important for our Department that the Annual Report is put on record for assessment of the results and achievements. In the year 2002, the number of deliveries at University College Hospital Galway was the highest for twenty years. In addition, there was a significant increase in gynaecological workload.
