dc.description | Cancer accounts for about 20% of all deaths in industrialised countries as well as considerable ill health; it is therefore essential that each country. of the European Community (EC) should undertake educational initiatives to provide sound scientifically based information on common cancers which occur in the Community. It is also important to give advice on preventive measures which if heeded will reduce illness and death from the disease, in order to try to meet the target of the European Committee of Cancer Experts to achieve a reduction in deaths from cancer of about 15% by the year 2000 | en_GB |
