dc.description | Since 1968 there has been a year by year increase in the number of Irish residents who have legally induced abortions in England. In the reports published by the Office of population Censuses and Surveys (OPCS), London,. certain characteristics of the girls giving an Irish address, are ,tabulat.ed, for example, age group and marital status, but no information is given about their area of residence,in Ireland, their socio-econonic group or social class, their use or non-use of contraception prior to becoming pregnant and a number, of other important social variiables about them. The information provided by the OPCS refers only to girls who gave an Irish address, if they gave an English address they would not be included. Nearly all the girls had their pregnancies terminated at private clinics and very few in the National Health Service hospitals. | en_GB |
