dc.description | Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is responsible for about 10% of all the healthcare-associated infections. Some of these infections are life-threatening, e.g. bloodstream infection, and many re sult in considerable patient suffering and morbidity. While there has been a welcome decline in the number of cases of MRSA bloodstream infection in recent years, developments have oc curred since the last set of national guidelines were issued in 2005 and an updated set of guide lines is overdue. A multi-disciplinary team has reviewed the last set of gui delines together with other guidelines published abroad in the interim, as well as the scientific literature, and produced a set of recommendations which reflect best practice and are dr afted to improve the quality of patient care. The group is grateful to all those who provided constructive a nd helpful feedback during the review stage. This set of guidelines wi ll be reviewed again in 2016 | en_GB |
