dc.description | The South Eastern Health Board has formulated regional guidelines and procedures for the investigation and management of cases of suspected child abuse. The purpose of the guidelines is to protect vulnerable children by ensuring that staff have guidance on the investigation and management of situations where children are considered to be at risk of abuse or neglect. These procedures define child abuse and outline the action to be taken where it is suspected that a child has been ill-treated and requires protection. The South Eastern Health Board's procedures are based on the Department of Health 1987 Child Abuse Guidelines and Guidelines for the Notification of Child Abuse between Health Board and Gardai 1995. They also take into account the recommendations of the Kilkenny Incest Investigation Report and the requirements of child care legislation. This document has been agreed between various professionals involved in the protection and welfare of children in the region. These procedures replace Procedures for the Investigation & Management of Cases of Suspected Child Abuse, South Eastern Health Board, May 1994. | en_GB |
