Immunisation is the most important, successful and cost-effective public health measure. The World Health Organisation has recognised training as fundamental to successful immunisation programmes. This • Practical Guide to Immunisation • has been developed by the National Immunisation Office in collaboration with the HPSC and many of the key stakeholders in immunisation in Ireland today. This very useful Guide has been produced at a time when key changes are planned for the nationa l primary childhood immunisation programme. Tnls Guide is a key document for many of those who are involved in the immunisation programme and in particular, will prove a useful resource for those wno administer vaccines. This Guide must now serve as an impetus to the further development of standardised immunisation training nationally. Dr Kevin
