Description:
Posterior teeth that have lost a substantial amount of coronal tooth structure as a result of caries, cavity preparation, fracture, tooth wear, endodontic access or any combination of these frequently present the dentist with a dilemma in terms of treatment planning for subsequent restoration. Traditionally, the lack of sufficient remaining sound coronal tooth structure following the removal of caries and/or existing intracoronal restorations has often mandated elective root canal therapy and/or crown lengthening to provide the necessary retention and resistance form to support a full coverage crown.1,2
