According to the Strategy document, (1) the primary aim of the Department of Health and the health services should be to enhance the health and quality of life of people, based on the principles of equity, quality of service and accountability. The corporate strategy of the South Eastern Health Board (SEHB) ‘Managing For a Healthier Future’ (2) is in line with this. In future, health services are to be directed towards health promotion, and disease prevention while continuing to provide treatment and continuing care. From the service aspect, the strategy document (1) highlights the need for appropriate care and the importance of linkages, within and outside, the health services, to achieve this. Linkages are a key objective of the Strategy(1). A key objective of the corporate strategy of the South Eastern Health Board (2) is integration.
