Description:
The Carnegie Inquiry into the Third Age has added greatly to our understanding of the active years of later life and of the contribution which active older people make to society. We commend the Carnegie Trust for the series of conferences which it is hosting to highlight the findings of the Third Age Inquiry. We are pleased that the Trust hosted a Conference to examine the findings of the Inquiry on life, work and livelihood in the Third Age and their implications for Ireland, both North and South. We were happy to open the Conference which was held in Trinity College, Dublin. We were impressed by the range and quality of the speakers at the Conference and the debates which ensued. The Conference themes which included employment, income, health and opportunities in the Third Age were widely disseminated and we are certain that the participants gained valuable insight into the issues which affect Third Agers now and in the years to come.
