Abstract:
I am very happy to be with you once more for the Annual General Meeting of the hospital, and to express my appreciation of your work and my gratitude for your devoted commitment to the well-being and progress of the hospital. The involvement of the Church in healthcare is,an essential part of her mission. I am speaking here not just, of bishops and clergy but of religious. both men and women, and of the laity, especially Catholic doctors and nurses and paramedical staff, The Church in that comprehensive sense has a special concern. for the sick and for all who are affected by sickness, especially the members of the families of the sick. Illness presents a challenge that obliges us to reflect on the meaning of life and on the sense to made of suffering. At the centre of the.Church's vision is her deep conviction of the dignity and value of every human person. created by God and redeemed by Christ, who endured out suffering, transformed its meaning and overcame it through the victory of his resurrection from death. Every human person is deeply loved by God and destined not just for a short span of life on earth but for the joy of life everlasting. The care of the sick is the concrete manifestation of that love of God in which we all share and which.we express in our own love for one another as members of Christ's body
