Description:
After another very busy year, for the Irish Nurses Organisation, it gives me very great pleasure to present our annual report for the year 2001. I am happy to report that the Organisation continues to grow and increase its involvement and influence on all aspects of the work of nurses and midwives. At the end of the year I had almost completed my visit to the Organisation's 43 branches and I would like to thank all of the people that I met for their warmth and hospitality. I found the vis its to the branches very enjoyable but also informative as they provided me with an ideal opportunity to listen to the concerns of members working in our health service countrywide. During 2001 the industrial relations agenda was dominated by benchmarking. We spent a great deal of time in researching, drafting and finalising the written submission to the Benchmarking Body which was submitted in May. The details of the submission, are covered elsewhere in this report, but I believe it was very comprehensive as it covered both the national and international dimension of comparative pay, for nurses and midwives.
