Description:: This report presents the findings of a 2011 survey of older people‟s attitudes to and participation in physical activity and sport in Ireland. The survey was commissioned jointly by Age & Opportunity through its programme, Go for Life, the national programme for sport and physical activity for older people and the Irish Sports Council and involved the participation of a representative sample of 1,002 people aged 50 years and over. The survey is a repeat of the 2006 and 2008 studies of older people‟s attitudes to and participation in physical activity and sport in Ireland, which provide benchmarks against which the results of this study can be compared.
