It is my pleasure to present the Annual Report of An Bord Altranais for 1996 outlining the main activities of the Board under the key areas of Education and Training, Fitness to Practice, Registration and Communication with the Profession. The introduction of the Registration/ Diploma model of pre-registration nurse education and training continued as resourced by the Department of Health during 1996. It is anticipated that all schools of nursing will provide this programme by the end of next year.
