This publication provides an overview of issues related to drug misuse in Ireland, focusing on information available up to mid-2000. The term 'drug misuse', as used in rhis report, refers to the taking of a legal and/or illegal drug that harms the physical, mental or social well being of the individual, the group or society. A general overview of the situation in Ireland regarding different aspects of the drugs phenomenon is presented. The content is descriptive rather than analytic. The authors envisage thar the document will be used as a resource document. Much of the information presented is not readily available in the Irish context; thus, this volume, which gathers a wide range of information together, should be of use to individuals and groups interested in rhe drugs area in Ireland.
