This report prepared at of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute on the request the adequacy of the community nutrition/dietetic service describes the current level and standard of service in Ireland and highlights the fact that this very much in the embryonic stage of development. is a service Three community-based dietitians provide a service in three different community care/health authority areas, while a further three dietitians are employed to work with a community focus in a consultative or research-project' capacity. In total this is equivalent to four full-time positions; only one of which is a permanent community post.
