Description:
The physically disabled include the seriously deprived viz. the deaf, blind, physical disabilities arising from congenital causes, accidents or chronic long term illnesses. It should be noted that while the onset of old age may be marked by the development of physical disabilities, the plan does not encompass the problems of old age per see The Programme for Social and Economic Progress set out specific Government policies and commitments including the area of people with disabilities. Priority support services would be : provision of additional paramedical services i.e. physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy; provision of additional Day Care Centres; provision of respite care facilities; provision of additional home support services; new training workshops and· improvement of existing facilities; additional residential places for physically disabled people.
