partnership for excellence! l=he Eastern HealtH Ba rd is to be dissolved and replaced by a new Eastern Regional Health uthority (ERHA) and three new Area Health Boards, under legislation which has been passed by the Oireachtas. The Eastern Regional Health Authority, which will be established on March 1,2000, will replace the EHB as the statutory body with responsibility for health and personal social services for the I. million people who live in Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow. The ERHA will be responsible for the strategic planning of services, commissioning of services, funding services through service agreements with the three Area Health Boards, voluntary hospitals and agencies and monitoring and evaluating the services provided. The Area Health Boards will be responsible for the delivery within their own areas the services currently being provided by the EHB. A SHared Services Centre will be established to provide certain centralised services to the ERHA and the three Area Health Boards. The majority of the staff who now work in Dr. Steevens' Hospital will continue to provide these centralised processing and transaction services from their existing location.
