In January 1988 the Minister for Health established a Working Group with the following terms of reference: (i) To carry but a review of the present provision of child and adolescent psychiatric services in the Eastern Health Board area which will include an examination of the capacity of the existing services in meeting the total needs of the area. (ii) To make recommendations regarding the future organisation of the service in the Eastern Health Board area which will ensure that child and adolescent psychiatric services are delivered in a co-ordinated and rational manner.
