Description:
The activities in this resource aim to support young people to make connections between children’s rights, as set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and their own daily lives at home, at school and in their communities. We hope that by exploring these connections with you, with each other and with their parents/ guardians, young people will develop their understanding of how children’s rights relate to their own lives and of the various ways in which a wide range of people, including young people themselves, can participate in the protection of children’s rights on a daily basis. These materials have been designed for work with young people in post-primary education (especially Junior Certificate CSPE students). You may wish to adapt the activities to take account of the needs, capacities and experiences of the young people you work with. We appreciate the significant role that teachers play in young people’s lives. We hope these materials will support your work and that you and the young people you work with will find them educational and enjoyable.Tá sé mar aidhm ag na gníomhartha san acmhainn seo tacú le daoine óga naisc a chruthú idir cearta an linbh, faoi mar atá leagtha amach i gCoinbhinsiún na NA um Chearta an Linbh, agus a saol laethúil sa bhaile, ar scoil agus ina bpobail féin. Tá súil againn go bhforbróidh daoine óga, trí iniúchadh a dhéanamh ar na naisc seo leatsa, lena chéile agus lena dtuismitheoirí/caomhnóirí, a gcuid tuisceana ar conas mar atá cearta an linbh bainteach lena saolta féin agus ar na slite éagsúla inar féidir le raon leathan daoine, lena n-áirítear daoine óga iad féin, páirt a ghlacadh i gcosaint ceart leanaí ar bhonn laethúil. Dearadh na hábhair seo mar shaothar chun bheith ag obair le daoine in oideachas iar-bhunscoile (daltaí OSSP an Teastais Shóisearaigh go háirithe). Is féidir leat na gníomhartha a oiriúnú chun riachtanais, inniúlachtaí agus eispéiris na ndaoine óga lena bhfuil tú ag obair a chur san áireamh. Tuigimid an ról tábhachtach atá ag múinteoirí i saol daoine óga. Tá súil againn go dtacóidh na hábhair seo le do chuid oibre agus go bhfaighidh tusa agus na daoine lena n-oibríonn tú iad oideachasúil agus taitneamhach.
