The LANS (Limerick Assessment of Need Project)has been /is one of four pilot projects within Ireland investigating effective ways/models of providing care to children in need which brings all the relevant stakeholders together in a co-ordinated way. A key component of such care is Information Sharing between those stakeholders. This protocol involved extensive research on information sharing in other countries (i.e. UK, Australia, New Zealand) as well as extensive consultation with the Gardai Siochana and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. While the end result is detailed, the intention was to offer a definitive legal protocol which could inform efforts to share information between a variety of stakeholders, both family, public service and voluntary
