Description: This guidance is aimed at the food industry and at food law enforcement officers. It seeks to clarify issues surrounding flavourings for use in food, including the legislation by which they are regulated and the labelling rules related to food to which flavourings have been added. The guidance replaces Guidance Note No. 9 on Flavourings Legislation in Ireland (FSAI, 2002) and covers only the legislation on flavourings used in food. Separate guidance has been published by the FSAI on food additives (FSAI, 2011).
