function to regulate the number
and type of appointments of
consultant medical staff in
hospitals providing services under
the Health Acts, the
Comhairle has examined the
question of psychiatric services
at consultant level. This examination
was undertaken both 1.3
to aid the Comhairle in formulating
policy on consultant
appointments and to make
recommendations to the
Minister and the health boards
on appropriate matters directly
relating to the Comhairle's
statutory role. The Comhairle
wishes to emphasise that the
examination does not purport to
be a general review of the psychiatric
services as a whole. It
deals solely with those issues
which are of relevance to its
own statutory functions. |
