| Description: | In the course of its consideration
of the question of a
common selection system, the
Comhairle took into account
existing methods of selection on
which information was available,
including the Local Appointments
Commission procedure,
the provisions of present legal
agreements between voluntary
hospitals and medical schools/
universities and the provisions of
Section 62 of the Health Act,
1953, governing teaching appointments
in Health Board
Hospitals.
4.2 The Comhairle appreciates that
the proposals contained in this
report are at variance with many
of the methods of selection
presently in operation . However,
provided there is agreement on
the part of the interests concerned,
it will be possible to
replace the existing method
though, in some instances, this
may require legislative action . |
