| Description: | This is the third census of resident patients in Irish psychiatric hospitals and
Units published by the Medico-Social Research Board. The first was in 1963
and the second in 1971.
The census is of patients resident in hospitals and units operating within
the provisions of the 1945 Mental Treatment Act on midnight, 31st March,
1981. Information was collected on each patient on a form that has been
employed on every admission, discharge and death since the 1971 census and
which provides information for the annual series of "Activities". Detailed
instructions are issued to help in the completion of these forms. A reproduction
of the form used appears on page 9. |
