| Description: | The Board has expressed Its concern on a number of occasions during
the year on the effect of substance abuse, whether tobacco, alcohol or drugs.
While the figures for tobacco seem to indicate that anti-smoking
programmes are meeting with some success nevertheless we cannot be
complacent. In the field of alcohol and drugs however, we are dealing with a
seriously growing problem, end the Board must redouble its efforts both within
its own services and in co-operation with the other responsible authorities to
deal meaningfully and effectively with these scourges of our society. |
