Description:
The Galway Regional Hospitals Annual Report 1996 is issued as a supplement to "Health for our Future" - The Annual Report of the Western Health Board for 1996. It sets out statistical data and developments which took place in this unit of Management throughout the year. A total of 36,821 persons were treated as in-patients which represents an increase of 5.58% on the 1995 workload and 15.350fo on the workload planned and funded as per the Service Plans. There were 172,726 out-patient attendances which is 1.67% higher than in 1995 and 14.36% in excess of that planned and funded in the Service Plans. These statistics demonstrate the ever increasing demand for acute hospital services. Considerable pressure was imposed on the staff and facilities to deal with this workload which was achieved within available resources with the exception of a small over-run of £29,000 which represents 0.05% of the entire budget. Appreciation is extended to all staff employed in this unit of Management for their dedication and commitment throughout 1996
