Description:
The Child Health Services have two major programmes: Pre-School Services and School Health Services. Pre-School Services The pre-school services are based on developmental paediatric examinations of children at the approximate ages of :- (a) 6 - 9 months (b) 12 - 15 months (c) 24 months These examinations were initially confined to towns with a population of at least 5,000 but in most areas they have now been extended to towns with smaller populations. Children Examined In 1990, the number of scheduled clinics held was 7, 587 and 43,995 children were examined at them. Of these, 29,921 were examined at 6 months which represents 57% of annual births in the country. Table A presents the 1990 data on the number of children examined at scheduled clinics as well as comparisons with the two previous years.
