Description:
The Child Care Division, Department of Health is very grateful fur the co-operation of health board staff in supplying information fur the Survey of Children in Care in 1979. This survey covers all children in care in 1979 and as such is more comprehensive than the 1978 survey which concentrated on children coming into care in that year. This survey has also been computerised thanks to the assistance of the Central Data Processing Centre. The delay in issuing the survey results is due to the length of time required to set up the computer programme and validate returns. It is hoped that now the new system has been set up, annual survey results will be published much more quickly in future. CHILDREN IN CARE - DEFINITION 2. The 1979 survey covers all children placed in the care of the health boards by their parents on a voluntary basis in that year, children in care as a result of a court order and privately fostered children under the supervision of health boards.
